Channel Markers

Duties:

  • Placement

  • Removal

  • Maintenance

  • Purchase

  • Meet with Townships and DNR:

    • Permits and Grants

The Channel Marker teams main focus is safety not only for property owners on the chain but for the boating public that access the chain through use of the boat landings.

MLCA Channel Marker Inventory:

  • 31 markers on the chain

    • 28 channel markers

    • 3 rock markers

In permit process for 2 additional markers:

  • 2 channel markers at entrance from 2nd Lake to Lake 2.5

    • Safety concern with people swimming

  • Replace bridge pipe markers with floating markers

Any changes or additions to the channel markers must be approved by one of the three townships the Moen Lake Chain occupies as well as Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The Moen Lake Chain Association covers the cost of the Channel Marker program and improvements through annual membership dues, donations and DNR grants. As Channel Marker Team Chair Dan meets and works with DNR Field Wardens and Safety Wardens to discuss boating safety on the chain and plan for improvements.
