Safety in our every daily lives can not be stressed enough. When we are enjoying the great opportunities of the Moen Lake Chain things can suddenly go awry. Always be on the defensive by paying close attention to your situation.
BEAR SAFETY
Always remember that when in the beautiful Northwoods it is really the woods! We have wildlife galore here. That includes the black bear. While not generally aggressive there are things you
need to do to insure your safety. Read the Wisconsin DNR article Living With Bears In Wisconsin for some great tips. Here is one example of a bear and a bird feeder.
BOATING SAFETY CERTIFICATE
If you are between the ages of 12 and 16 or born after January 1, 1989 and at least 16 you MUST have passed a boating safety course to operate ANY watercraft.
CLICK HERE to find out how to accomplish this on-line.
The DNR's "Handbook of Wisconsin Boating Laws and Responsibilities" has complete watercraft information and is available at the local DNR office at 107 Sutliff in Rhinelander (Near the Paper Mill).
LAW ENFORCEMENT
The Oneida Sheriffs Office has dedicated three deputies to lake security and survellience. While they can not be everywhere at all times their random patrols are making our chain more secure by their presence. Having this patrol has reduced response times in case of emergency, as well.
If you suspect illegal activities please call:
Oneida County Sheriff at 715-361-5100
